Playing with Type - Letterpress Workshop

Playing with Type
Taking part in a Letterpress Workshop means mixing colors, touching real letters made of lead, having hands dirty. It's thanks to all these things that you develop a new perspective, you find another dimension, a gap where you can measure yourself putting together different types.
By discovering the birth of the print process, the importance of every step, you can acquire a different awareness when it comes to work again on digital projects.
It's never too late to escape from everyday's frenetic pace and rely in another kind of pressure: the one which turns upside-down letter blocks into a unique piece of art.

The Workshop was organized by Betterpress Lab in Rome.
Just below you can see the Poster we made during the day. We wanted to play with the types  to underline the idea of the negatives so we used a kind of letters that can be print leaving the letter without ink. We wanted to create the camera using only types: it's made by the back of a big letter and a mask made of paper. The button on top is made out of an "o".

Here is the result.

Here some pictures we took during the workshop.
