Actively Learn - Internal Catalog Tool: Proposed design
Challenges:
- In-house content team needed a program with fewer limitations for creating curriculum collections.
- Currently using a text-based program which is buggy and slow; does not display tile art.
- Need the ability to create draft “Topic Pages” and “Subject Buckets” to be able to build ahead of time and keep drafted for review cycles.
Current internal tool to create curriculum collections on Actively Learn website:
Solution:
- Create a “WYSIWYG” view for content team to preview the Topic Pages and Buckets.
- Add functionality to save collection drafts.
- Add functionality to save collection drafts.
- Created a separate designated screen for teachers to focus on reorganizing, deleting and adding lessons.
- Include the functionality to add unpublished lessons to the buckets for stakeholders and marketing department review.
- Create over lay treatment of icons to display functionality of deleting, sorting and hiding tiles.

Process:
- Led video interviews with members of the content team to collect insight on current process and gain an understanding of pain points and challenges.
- Recorded and organized content team feedback to apply to future updates.
- Worked in concert with project manager and developers to reach creative solutions within program limitations and within scope.
- Mocked up Mid fidelity wireframes in Figma replicating format of current Actively Learn Teacher view.
- Tasks of sorting adding and deleting are divided into two separate screen views to allow for more effective creation
WYSIWYG format allows content team to curate lesson collections offering a dynamic collections to both users who have a paid and free subscription options.
