Fall 2013 - Graphic Design 4 Package Design

KUBE was a group project created by Tiffani Tonner, Fransys Quintero, and myself for our packaging design class.

OBJECTIVES:
     - Create a parent company for our individual companies: Spinning Top Productions, Happy Kid, and
       LILmonsters
     - Create a logo/identity for the parent company
     - Mock up a physical scale model of our trade show floor layout.

THE PARENT COMPANY:
We had to come up with a parent company that would connect our companies in some way. So we came up with KUBE. We decided to call the company KUBE because we were thinking about building blocks that children play with as well as the "building" of a family. The company is family oriented and wants to influence happy, healthy lifestyles not just for the children, but also the entire family.

LOGO/IDENTITY:
After going over ideas for the identity of the parent company, we had to design a logo. I came up with the logo design and we collaborated on the colors.

The graphic of the logo has three shapes creating a square. These three pieces represent the individual companies that KUBE owns. Although the individual companies are their own company, they also play a role as "building blocks" in the KUBE industry. Each piece of the logo has it's own color relating to the minor company as well. LILmonsters is blue to represent a calmness and tranquility since the products relate to "monsters under your bed." Spinning Top Productions is yellow to represent cheerfulness and warmth because it is a family video company that encourages families to come together. Happy Kid is red to represent strength and energy that you get from the healthy food that Happy Kid provides.

TRADE SHOW MOCK UP:
If you take a look at the trade show layout, it is actually similar to the logo's graphic. Since the logo represented these three companies, we decided that it was best to recreate this shape to "locate" each company within KUBE's trade show. This layout also can be reminiscent of the layout of a home: a bedroom, a family room, and a kitchen. There will be three openings for people to walk in, seating with the television in the Spinning Top Production area, a bed to sit on/play on in LILmonsters section, and a "kitchen" area in the Happy Kid section. Each area for the three companies displays the actual product for sale and would have samples or a handout.

The three minor companies' products represent KUBE, a family oriented company, as a whole: together, healthy, and playful. In the trade show mock up each section of the layout has the definition of these words to educate potential consumers what the company values.
KUBE logo is displayed on all sides of trade show layout. The square graphic would be around a "window" (the black square in the photographs) and the word "KUBE" would be on the wall next to it. Under each "window" is the word that describes each company owned by KUBE. We did this so that it can be seen from any angle. The large back wall has the definitions of KUBE along with the logo; we created this just incase our trade show display would be in the middle of the floor, if not that side could be butted against a wall. KUBE also has a hanging squared display sign to capture the attention of individuals farther away from KUBE's trade show.

After we devised a layout and each of us designed our individual walls, we got together and made the physical mock up display out of foam core.
