BEFORE
This building - former Soviet Palace of Culture build in 1961 - is situated in the region of Vostan.
With its ornate façade and intricate architectural details, this architectural legacy stands as an
abandoned monument to the bygone era of Soviet influence.
Our project is dedicated to preservation of the historical building.
The primary focus of renovation endeavour is to create a multifunctional space for local community. Our aim is to provide children with an environment where they can engage in academic pursuits, partake in various sports activities, and enjoy their leisure time to the fullest.

Additionally, we aspire to transform this space into a destination that attracts people from all corners of the country, fostering a sense of unity and inclusivity.
CONCEPT
the entryway
We made every effort to preserve the architecture and ornamentation of the building. consequently, Soviet granite pieces remained on the floor, stucco features were kept, and tuff stone walls was meticulously cleansed of plaster in order to recreate the original appearance
The entryway area serves as a waiting space for parents and contains lockers for storage as well as glass cabinets for displaying students' work. we installed a drinking fountain in the left wing
As the main modular element, we chose a 450 by 450 mm cube. From this cubes, we created seating areas, a reception desk, storage lockers, transparent cabinets for displaying students’ work, and lightboxes.
the atrium area
Equipped with a glass ceiling, it is a spacious, bright area
the right side features a petite amphitheatre with a library, workspaces, and reading areas.

Traditional tuff and natural materials were used for the interior design, and they were enhanced by vivid key points involving green metal beams for the ceiling.

the auditorium area
For one classroom, we designed a tuff-made table for the masterclasses with specific storage niches in the tabletop.
The second one thoughtfully provides students with various possible combinations of seating arrangements.
Tuff walls have been meticulously repaired in both rooms to properly preserve the original structure.

the café area
When we first entered the structure of the former cultural centre, the extension had neither a floor nor a roof; instead, it was completely lit by sunlight, with a tiny tree growing in the centre.
Along with developing the project, we made every effort to keep this first impression in mind.
