This assignment was full of trying to make a new kind of design for characters. It was very interesting to start working with this. I always wanted to try and understand how to work with shapes and try and make something of it.
At First we had to make a "try out" drawing for the first week.
We learned that when you try to work with silhouettes They come more from shapes and not lines.
So what I took from this was: I wanted to try and make a few characters, with just one shape they existed out of.

1: circle. When you use a circle, I thought of making a very round like character. as if he was a bomb.
2: square. A character that existed out of mostly just squares was very funny to think about. I normally only imagine a robot when that happens. But this time I thought about just a character with very square like features.
3: Triangle. again just working with a small character made of just triangles.
4: I thought about South Park- That's all I can say about this one.
5: I tried to make a Dragon from it, It didn't work out as I hoped it would. But Some others thought it was nice. Which is nice to hear. But I really want to try and get better at drawing animals.
6: Because I wasn't happy with the dragon, I ended up making a Cat.
We had to chose a character you already knew or had made. And then chose between A or B. I chose to make B. And use my own character.

This is already a very old character and wanted to try and make new clothes for it mostly. I always liked the hair, but it also depends on what mood I am in to draw it long or short.
1: I wanted to base the drawing off a type of easy style I liked. It's from an online series (Camp Camp) and It was nice drawing a bit more simple and weird. The shoes are never detailed. The shapes are mostly in the clothes. So I wanted to try and make that come over with my drawing.
2: More back to my style where I wanted to make sure I kept it as close to the original as possible. The shoes are more detailed and there are more cleaner lines between the clothes. I really liked this design.
3: I have no idea where I was going. I let the pencil do the work. Start with shapes and sizes and it came out to look like a monster. I am quite pleased with what it ended up looking like!
Next up we had to think about what we wanted to make the end product as.
What kind of style?

Well. I had to look up 3 people who I found very interesting in their style.

1: Hell park (on tumblr. Aslo made "Camp sunvalley" and "Clydes ballapalooza extravaganza"
I liked a lot about the style. They had no lines and worked with a lot of shading and lighting. That really inspired me to try and work in different drawings with backgrounds.

2: S0s2. This creator also had the same points. I love the background and the lighting they work with. The flat colours here really speak to me as well.

3: Z-Toon. This is a very good comic artist I really look up to, they make a lot of comics without any texts in them. Which is hard to do these days. But the short comics that always make sure you get teh message is what I really liked most about this.
I ended up choosing for "Hellpark"
This is because I normally use line-art in my drawings. I wanted to switch it up a few times. Working with clean and sharp lines is also something new I normally do not try or do out of myself.

Looking further online I have found a few idea's that could help me get into the style of hellpark.
Working on the sketch I liked making it very simple.
The hair style was very simple as well.
My character has no eyes. With this, it wasn't that I was able to make pupils. And I had to make sure the eyes weren't darker than the eye lashes. This was mostly looking out at the colours that I was using during the drawing and seeing if they would fit together correctly.
Reflection:

It was very interesting to work with a different style and colouring method.

I wasn't the biggest fan of it, but it sure was something different and a very different experience! And that is what I really wanted out of this all.
