times new roman
Emilie-A. Roxas | Fall 2023 | DES 16 | Project 2
For this project, my classmates and I were tasked with creating a graphic poster for a certain typeface in Adobe Illustrator, using different aspects of font manipulation such as kerning, line spacing, etc. to achieve different effects.
A staple of academic work, I chose Times New Roman as it is simultaneously interesting and boring; similar to the likes of Helvetica, the typeface is everywhere in professional and commercial cultures as well as in everyday usage. To reference newspapers and font headings, I chose the color scheme black, white, and red (as newspapers are read all over). I chose this design in particular over the others (portrayed below) as it plays more into the history and current usage of the typeface as well as being visually striking and immediate with its referencing.
