Turgot & Amsterdam VR Experience
VR experience for Daniel Crouch Rare Books

We were commissioned by Daniel Crouch Rare Books to produce a VR experience as part of their booth at the prestigious TEFAF Maastricht art fair.
The Idea
We took two rare maps from their catalogue, Turgot’s monumental map of Paris 1739 and Cornelis Anthonisz’ map of Amsterdam from 1544 and produced VR walkthoughs of both. Highlighting areas of both historical and artistic interest as the viewer moved through the experience.
Production

The original maps and book bindings were scanned at a high resolution to provide the best possible textures for the VR experience.
Animations and environments were visualised in Cinema 4D and continuosly tested with the client for accuracy before being finally rebuilt and bug tested in Unity and using the Oculus Go headsets.
We delivered the headsets and VR softwares onsite at Tefaf in Maastrict as well as providing onsite assistance at the event. Running demos for visitors and ensuring all the technology ran smoothy.
A great chance to get out of the studio!
