Understanding place - Hayle 10/2013

The drawing shows character studies of Hayle. It analyses listed buildings and monuments of the town and emphases the significance of the huge amount of them within one town (more that 142 buildings). Particularly important buildings of more than special interest (Grade II*) and buildings that are of special interest, warranting every effort to preserve them (Grade II) were identified in Hayle. This analysis shows that Hayle is a historically significant place. Beside that, various building types were identified in the town to see a social division between classes and people's occupations

Diagramatical analysis of grid system in Copperhouse area
Social studies of Hayle help to understand which part of Hayle is more dense in relation to business and social activities. Two historical centres Copperhouse Foundry and Harvey’s Foundry have lost their identity and significance; therefore, it is worth looking at the re-location of activities and the most occupied places in Hayle nowadays.
Based on this research of the town, the following design project (Traditional Building Craft College) will be moved forward. The historical analysis of Hayle, the background of the town development over the time and the understanding of environmental conditions  gave an outstanding ability to read the potential site for a proposal from different perspectives. The importance of existing  but abondoned places plays a crucial role in the recognision of the town; therefore it will be considered and regeneration of the place will be done.
