About the project
In this project I got the briefing to create an animation for a ball that loops from the top-left down to the bottom left.
The aspect of a ball rolling from top to bottom instantly made me think of a pinball machine, which typically have a unique illustration style.
Most of the time they have a certain theme. Because I had to have the ball enter from the top left I decided to use this space theme to have the ball be teleported onto the machine using a UFO.
Furthermore I thought it would be fun and unique to also include some typical elements from other cultures. Such as a skull from the Mexican Dia de Los Muertos, a Japanese Kitsune mask and the Eye of Providence.
I love drawing and illustrating which is why I first drew a sketch on paper. This gave me a rough idea of how I wanted my machine to look, also drawing lines of how the ball would move throughout the video.
Back in 2022, I did not have a drawing tablet which made the work a little more tedious but it was still a fun project to work on since I love drawing and illustrating.
