Keeping Time
This goal of this project was to create a photorealistic watch from an image of a watch of our choosing. When I picked my watch example, I was drawn to the colors it used and the different moving parts. I wanted to challenge myself in highlights and shadows to match it as close as I could.
To begin my project, I took some time to draw out the different shapes that are in this watch. There are a lot of moving parts, and I wanted to get an idea of what the complete shapes looked like even if there was sections hidden with overlap. Once I got the sketches done, I was ready to start creating on Illustrator.
I started out getting the basic shapes of the watch creating using lots of guides. The guides helped me to be precise in replicating the original. As I went on, I added highlights and shadows, smaller details, and refined the shapes.
This is the final outcome! There are definitely things that can still be improved and more parts to be added, but I am satisfied with what I was able to do in my circumstances. The goal of this project was to replicate an existing watch into a vector, and there are certain parts that I think got really close.
