“Animalium: La pesadilla de Narciso” (Animalium: Narcissus nightmare) is a project developed for artist collective Laramascoto. This is an interactive installation where the spectator is introduced in an imaginary of hybrid beings, non-human, fusioning the limits between reality and myth. It has been exhibited at Feria ARCO Madrid 2014 and at Centro Cultural Antiguo Instituto (Gijón).

 

The artwork projects in real time the 3D grid of the spectator, captured through a depth camera. The spectator can mutate his image using his own voice, fusioning his face with those from hybrid nature beings. Voice modulation triggers the face transformation, guiding the trip through different representations previously sculpted.

Sculptures by Laramascoto were 3D scanned in order to be incorporated to the artwork. Spectator’s face is tracked in real time, and by identifying several face landmarks, the sculpture is adapted to produce a hybridization process between both of them
