For the International Week of Deaf People 2023, the Hands-On LESCO (Costa Rican Sign Language) Academy dedicated one of its dates to an afternoon of talks with leaders and important figures of the Deaf Community.
Hand Talks was a space for learning and debate on crucial issues for the Deaf Community and its allies. We enjoyed talks and discussions given by Deaf people.
Topics discussed included deaf youth, leadership, sign language rights, deaf children, and the evolution of Deaf Culture and the Deaf Community in Costa Rica in the last 40 years.
