The work is for a competition set by Marina Bay Sands and URA Singapore. It is inspired by the hustle and bustle of the food scene in Singapore especially the one in Satay by the bay. It has the ruckus of funny moments and excitement of the Singapore vibe which reflects what ‘kiasu’ is. The reason why I choose Satay By the Bay, is because of how we are united in enjoying and seeking for the best food together despite we are soaring as a developed country. They always say that language isn’t a barrier for love. Likewise food. The most known dessert would be the ice kachang. Since its one that most sought after in the hot days. One could only imagine how life is without ice kachang. One that is sweet and attractive. Next, the famous coffee drinks and breakfast toast with kaya, commonly found in most households. The friendly stall vendors are part of the reason why we connect with food, because great food and great talk equates syiok!
