Mount Tongariro: Tama Lakes Track

Mount Tongariro: Tama Lakes Track
Location: New Zealand, North Island
Tongariro National Park is located in the central part of New Zealand's North Island. It is the first national park in New Zealand and the fourth national park in the world, established in 1894. It is most famous for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, but the photo captured this time is from the Tama Lakes Track, a side branch trail.

Tama Lakes Track
The weather in October gradually transitions into spring and becomes warmer. There are still remnants of melting snow visible along the trail, but overall, the trail is in good condition and relatively easy to walk. Occasionally, there may be small streams to cross, but the difficulty level is not extremely high. However, it is still important to be fully prepared before hiking, as the weather in this area can be unpredictable, with rain one moment and clear skies the next.

The Tama Lakes Track consists of two lakes, namely Upper and Lower Tama Lakes. The surrounding area is extremely open and exposed, with strong and chilly winds. It is located between two mountains, Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe.
