Hands of mercy
Ima van Esso was send to Auschwitz in 1943. She was selected to help in the notorious Blok 10 for medical experiments, especially for women. She was ordered to give the final leathal injections to women. In her spare time she knits handgloves from the wool from a pullover from one of the victims. They helped her from getting frozen fingers during the death march from Auschwitz in 1944.
Her handgloves are now on display in the Warmuseum Overloon, the Netherlands
