Commission for ZALORA x adidas
ZALORA is one of Asia's leading online fashion retailers, and so I was absolutely over the moon when they approached me with an opportunity to collaborate. They'd just launched a local (PH) contest in partnership with adidas with the theme "Manila Street Art," and their goal was to have my artwork help market the contest and gain more entries.
The instructions were to portray the adidas Gazelle or Samba through a Filipino perspective, and I knew right away that I wanted to highlight one of Manila's best-known icons: the jeepney. Specifically, I wanted to make a jeepney shoe!
"Urban Stride"
I rendered two version of the artwork -- one day, one night -- just to have options. Key elements I knew I wanted to include were the sun as depicted in the Philippine flag, and recognizable features of Manila's urban landscape like road signage and telephone poles.
