Types of Preserved Moss Ideal for Walls

Maintenance-free and designed to last years, garden installations crafted with preserved plants need no water, irrigation, or soil and have a vibrant, fresh-cut aesthetic that does not quickly fade. Moss is a popular wall option; a few types flourish when preserved.

Technically a lichen species that grows in the Arctic, reindeer moss has a dynamic soft and spongy texture and ranges in color from vibrant green to purple, which is generally acquired using certain food dyes. The natural color for Lichen (Reindeer) Moss is beige/cream color. It's ideal for acoustic moss panels and also serves as a natural accent to arrangements of flowers.

Flat moss has a flat texture ((by its definition) and, in nature, often covers soil and rocks in a lush carpet of green. Durable and an ideal backdrop for various types of preserved moss, it makes a vivid base layer and is essential in the detailing aspect of custom designs. It can even provide dimension to phrases and words encapsulated in wall gardens.

An intense light or dark green ball moss grows naturally in small cushion-like mounds, which evoke the texture of a forest floor. It is often employed in tandem with other foliage and moss in creating dimensionality. Pole moss also has excellent noise reduction qualities, ideal for commercial settings.

With a wool-like texture, mood moss grows in larger, thick clumps and has a soft, fluffy, and luxurious feel. Its appearance changes markedly, depending on growing conditions, with uses ranging from an accent to the centerpiece of preserved plant walls.
