The Arc De Triomphe is a very well known landmark in France. However, the landmark has very few souvenirs available. In this project, I wanted to give the Arc De Triomphe a minimalistic and modern look that tourist would appreciate. I chose a flat version of the landmark because I felt the front view is the most recognizable part of the Arc. My beginning sketches ranged from very simple thumbnails to pretty detailed works of the landmark. As I decided to go with a more minimalistic look, I started combining certain elements from both my detailed and simple thumbnails. The black and white design was my first vector graphic of the landmark, but it felt too simple. I started filling in parts of the graphic and giving it a fuller look with color, and it immediately came together. I then placed my design on some different items I thought the landmark might sell to tourists. This included an embroidered patch, enamel pin, a tote bag with the embroidered patch, a postcard with an all white vector graphic, and a wood engraving of the graphic. The most difficult challenge in this project was definitely the design mockups. Everything kept going wrong for me, and it felt like every YouTube tutorial was lying to me. However, I managed to pull together a few decent looking pieces.
