Breakdown
As with any project, it all starts with reviewing the documentation. I broke down the sent material (paragraph describing the location) into keywords to simplify the search for references, highlight the main things and cut off the superfluous. In the process I came up with 3 main ideas, which were subsequently proposed to the customer.
Since I didn't have game designer material, I did a little research on this topic to consider the specifics of game level design. Hopefully this will make it easier for other professionals
The next thing I did was sketches followed by a presentation
As a result of preproduction, I had a script created for the location. Any concept art is about telling a story, so it's very important to tell a story. In this case, I also wanted to add interesting elements to the location that could further immerse the player in the story.
