The Cabinet
The Scandalously Hilarious Political Comedy
The Cabinet was a scandalously hilarious political comedy that swept through the Bahamas beginning April Fools Day 2011. It's first run, April 1-2, 7-9, was a phenomenal success as the Cabinet sold out its final performance.

Written and produced by Ward Minnis, The Cabinet fit into a long line of theatrical political satire in the Bahamas, however what was different was that, perhaps for the first time, the audience was given a complete emotional experience. Traditionally theatre in this genre has been of the sketch variety.

Would audiences that had been raised on pure slap-stick and disconnected episodes go for a full story that had character development, story arcs and conflict? In retrospect the answer seems obvious now, but it was not obvious before the production went up, when everything was in doubt and even some actors wondered out loud if the play was funny enough.

The roar of laughter and acceptance from the crowd on opening night proved beyond a doubt that yes, Bahamians can fully appreciate an intelligent comedy.
Ward was also in charge of marketing and design for the production and did the art direction of the posters, postcards and flyers displayed here.

The illustrations are by Bahamian artist and comic Matthew Wildgoose who played the role of Kendrick Johnson in the play.
The Cabinet was written and produced by Ward Minnis for White Lime Productions Ltd. and was directed by Ian G. Strachan.

The premiere on April 1st 2011 Starred:
Chigoze Ijeoma………Reggie Moxey
Arthur Maycock Jr…..Fenton Green
Sophia Smith………….Latoya Darling
Ian G. Strachan …………Lymon Leadah
Ward Minnis…………Jerome Cartwright
Matthew Wildgoose…Kendrick Johnson

Ward also wrote and edited these viral videos, the first with the director Ian Strachan, who did double duty playing the role of Lymon Leadah, and the second video featured the lead actor, Chigozie Ijeoma, who played the role of Reggie Moxey.
This trailer which debuted the week before the play went up was written by Ward Minnis and directed by Ian Strachan; edited by Amaliko Carrol.
