In “Boldly African, Proudly Queer” we embarked on a transformative creative journey driven by passion, diversity, and the boundless creativity of a united community. Our project brought together a collective of aspiring models, makeup artist, a music artist in search of content for their music video, photo&video -grapher all striving to enrich their portfolios despite limited resources.

This collaborative endeavor was born from the shared belief that art knows no bounds, and self-expression should be celebrated in all its forms. We proudly embraced our African heritage while challenging established norms, fostering a sense of “Africanacity” that shines through in every frame.

As a group project, we faced the challenge of a shoestring budget, as none of us hailed from privileged backgrounds. But what we lacked in financial resources, we more than made up for in determination, creativity, and a profound commitment to our craft.

At the heart of “Boldly African, Proudly Queer” lies the celebration of queerness and individuality. Our visuals tell a story of defiance against societal expectations, where traditional gender roles are boldly deconstructed. Through the lens of our camera, we captured moments that resonate with the spirit of the LGBTQ+ community, offering a glimpse into the power of authentic self-expression.
