Idea Generation
For this project, my initial idea was to use the concept of “contrasting places”, meaning I would take photos of separate places that had an opposite aesthetic. I started with my photos from Wales and Liverpool, presenting them in my PowerPoint.
Though seeming like a good idea at first, I soon found out the process of capturing these areas would be a very challenging task, taking up too much time and effort. The journey to other places would require me to travel for hours and if I wanted to do a second shoot, I wouldn’t be able to do so when I wanted. This led me into to taking another approach. Rather than contrasting photography, I would mainly focus on architecture. My shoots would be based around Stafford (where I live) so everything would be in close proximity and within my ability to shoot.
I started working off this idea by planning multiple shoots.
My first would revolve around the High Street, where the market square is located

My second would take place around the Riverside development.

For my next 2 shoots, I decided it would be a good idea take photos at random without any planning, seeing what Stafford had in store for me whilst I aimlessly walked around the area.
While planning my shoots, I had decided to use monochrome images, as it allows you to focus more on composition rather than getting distracted by all the colours, showing the magnificence of the shape and scale of all the architecture that I would be visiting.
