Rules Of Civility

This is collaborative project with Adams Puryear of PFOAFM for "NYC Makers" The MAD Biennial,
select steins on view at The Museum of Art and Design July 1st 2014- October 12th 2014.

FPOAFM Studios is an art/craft collective based in Bushwick, Brooklyn. With a constantly shifting membership, a nomadic studio, and a practice based on available materials, FPOAFM works collaboratively on a project-driven basis to create limited edition, handmade functional ceramics, thus making every piece of pottery a work of art. Founded by Brooklyn-based artist Adams Puryear in 2006, this iteration of FPOAFM (pronounced "POEM"...the F’s are silent) includes Kate Nielsen (http://www.katenielsen.com), Ben Fiess (http://bfiess.com), Angie Terry (http://hosslyterry.weebly.com), Steph Becker (http://www.stephbecker.com), Lazaro Juan (http://lazarojuan.com), Clayton Blackwell (http://claytonblackwellceramics.tumblr.com), and Adams Puryear (http://adamspuryear.net)

MUGS/STEINS
These Steins are Made for Fighting. One is to get themselves into a bar/cafe/teahouse brawl and break the body of the stein over their opponent's head. Then the person is to uppercut their opponent with the knuckled handle.
Pictorially, these images are from a series titled "Rules of Civility." Hand-painted with ceramic glaze, on one side are average situations occurring in an urban setting. On the other side is something close to a worst case scenario.

Steins are approx. 5.5" Tall by 4" Diameter.
