IA Final Year Project - Rethink Columbarium Design

Interior Architecture final year project 2023
The design of the columbarium is approached with a philosophical idea, the relationship between life and death, hoping to help humanity in overcoming the events of a loss. Death will be the subject of introspection, a key to unlocking the seeming mystery that life often presents. To start living life to the fullest, particularly during times of loss, it is imperative for one to come to terms with the reality of mortality. To help, the project is designed to facilitate the human experience through the journey of mourning, by incorporating the multiple senses of the human experience in the terrain of a mourner’s loss with the elements of interior design, creating spaces that can be perceived with different meanings to different occupants as the process of grief is different to everyone.
In Buddhist philosophy, death is seen as an unavoidable part of human life. When discussing Buddhism, it's often linked to the circular symbol representing the cycle of life and death. To modernize these ideas, abstract and geometric shapes are employed to convey these concepts. Additionally, the project addresses the often neglected emotional aspects of loss and grief, shedding light on this important matter
