When you travel to Takamatsu, a means of transportation that you cannot miss and must use is the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad Co., Ltd., which is called Kotoden by local residents and boasts a 100-year history.
Kotoden consists of three lines: Kotohira Line, Nagao Line, and Shido Line, and connects to various parts of Kagawa Prefecture centered on Kawaramachi Station in Takamatsu. Kotoden is a very convenient and essential means of transportation. For example, you can go to the hot springs of Mt. Busshozan, visit Kotohira Shrine, and visit Yashima, the place where the Genpei War took place. You can reminisce about past history, or go to Shikoku's famous temples such as Shido-ji Temple, Nagaji Temple, and Ichinomiya-ji Temple.
You can save money on your trip by using the Kotoden 1-day pass. Take a car early in the morning, take a walk near Nagaoji Temple, and taste the vegetarian food we had booked in advance. Then, in the afternoon, take a car again to Kotohira Station and stop by Omotesando to enjoy Kagawa Prefecture's traditional sweets - Let's try soft ice cream with oiri (おいり) added. Next, let's try walking the famous stone steps at Kotohira Shrine. After visiting the main shrine located at the 785 steps, you can see the Sanuki Plain and Iinoyama, also known as Sanuki's Mt. Fuji. On the way back, you can get off at Busshozan Station and go to the hot springs of Mt. Busshozan to relieve your fatigue and then return to the hotel. You can use the Kotoden 1-day pass for all day trips.
