During the very hot summers in Kolkata I remember memories of a haatpakha (Hand fan). I had memories of my grandmother who used to fan us with a haatpakha when electricity was gone. During the thunder storms and monsoon season she used to make hot steaming khichdi for us. She used to fan us with the haatpakha while we devoured the khichdi.
