The Problem
Pet owners live in constant worry about the safety and well-being of their animals. Traditional identification methods like collars and tags are easily lost or outdated, and tracking a missing pet can be a complicated, emotional ordeal. Existing solutions lack real-time updates, comprehensive medical records, and seamless integration with pet-related institutions, leaving a gap in reliable pet management and safety.

At ANCORD Design, we don't just design products; we design experiences. When we teamed up with GoChip, our mission was clear: to revolutionize pet safety through a digital pet ID system that transcends current market offerings. Here’s how we turned vision into tangible innovation.
Extensive Market Research
Our first step was a deep dive into the competitive landscape. We examined a multitude of tracking products ranging from Apple's AirTag to Jiobit Tracker and commercial wildlife transmitters. Our research was not just limited to pet-specific devices; we included daily-use tracking solutions like Galaxy SmartTag and Tile Pro to get a comprehensive understanding. Each product was meticulously analyzed based on characteristics such as purpose, form factor, technology, pros, and cons. This allowed us to identify gaps and opportunities that GoChip could uniquely fill.
Material Exploration
Our next move was a detailed materials study. We explored options from silicone to sustainable ocean plastics and commonly used materials like PP and ABS. The goal was to offer insights into what would work best for both the pet and the environment, ensuring durability without compromising aesthetics.
Moodboard & Style
Drawing inspiration from our key themes—Japanese minimalism, natural elements, and exotic vibes—we curated a moodboard that served as our aesthetic North Star. This helped us to infuse the product with a distinct yet globally appealing look and feel.
Sketching & Iteration
Once the groundwork was laid, we transitioned into the design development phase. Initial sketches were subjected to iterative refinements based on client feedback. This collaborative approach ensured that every design choice was intentional and in sync with GoChip's overarching vision.
Prototyping & Testing
The journey culminated in the creation of numerous prototypes, rigorously tested to meet quality and functionality standards. Each prototype was an evolution, incorporating learnings from its predecessor and inching closer to the final, polished product.
In the end, what we delivered is more than a digital pet ID; it's a holistic pet management solution that marries cutting-edge technology with breathtaking design.
