Russian and Ukrainian idioms

To create this magazine, I was inspired by Russian and Ukrainian idioms that I heard around me since childhood. I decided to do this project in order to promote interesting and funny idioms of the Slavic peoples and perhaps add a couple of new expressions to the viewers’ vocabulary. Thus, the best solution turned out to be literal illustrated interpretations of sayings with small articles explaining the meaning and history. I wanted this magazine to have a fun, slightly sloppy hand-drawn style, which is reflected in the custom handwritten font for the titles and softly coloured illustrations with heavy use of a variety of brushes. The pages and the title illustration are made in green and yellow sunny colours symbolizing nature, as it was of great importance in Slavic traditions.
