A few years ago, I was approached by a client with the idea of doing a new cover for a reprint of Lois Lowry's The Giver. I drew them an illustration for the cover, and that was the end of our cooperation. The customer said he didn't like my work for some abstract, unclear reason, but promised partial financial compensation, which he never paid. I decided that the illustration should not go to waste and brought the project to completion.
