Literary Themes
Pretty self explanatory piece, the theme is "connection to infinite" and I essentially made a spiraling void using white circles, black squares, and black type of the word "Infinite" being parallel to each side of the black squares going indefinitely inwards. The one "Infinite" type is made bigger and overlaps with the black in the background in order to emphasize that it is the title of the book.
Shape Sketches

I did sketches on 5 different literary themes, each with 5 concepts: Betrayal, Good vs Evil Society, Infinite, Domination, Fate vs Free Will.
Shape Roughs & Type Collages
After some feedback and assessment of the sketches, I have decided to go with the 3 literary themes: Infinite, Domination, Fate vs Free Will.

My idea for the shape of Infinite is black squares and white circles on top of it, going indefinitely inwards (at least till you can't see it anymore). For the type collages, I made an infinite symbol using the word itself continuously in the path of the symbol and also made the word go in 4 corners in an alternate pattern inwardly, following the layout of the shape.

Next, my idea for the shape of Domination is a big circle "dominating" over a smaller circle by being on top, squishing it. My 2 ideas for the type collages are a percentage bar with the black almost filled all the way and a part of the word being bigger and stacking on top of a smaller part of the word (an interaction with the i can be seen with the dot being knocked off and fallen into the crevice)

Lastly, my idea for the shape of Fate vs Free Will is circle being locked behind bars where the bars are actually used to create the circle itself. Both my type collages are similar in the way that they use the same fonts. Fate uses a more blocky and solid font that represents inevitability of fate (fate is set/firm on happening), while Free Will uses a more hand written and loose font that represents freedom and flexibility to do what you want. Imagery is also used for collage on the left with the curved V in vs and lines on the bottom of the words to sort of create a two way path that a person can metaphorically choose from.
Hybrid Roughs
Decided to try out both the type collages for Domination and one collage for the other two. I had to get rid of the imagery for the Fate vs Free Will type collage since it didn't fit the shape at all.
Hybrid First Finish
After looking at all the roughs, I decided go with the infinite as it was the most interesting to look at and changed the layout of the shape and type collage into a spiral based on feedback to give a more "trippy" feel to it.
Book Cover Loose Rough w/ Mockup
Created a circle/ring outside of the design to match it. I also used a blurb that was used in a real cover of the book.
Book Cover Finish
Based on feedback, I removed the blurb as it wasn't really necessary and made one of the infinites bigger to make it stand out as the title as there wasn't a clear one before.
