KANGA
Kanga is a type of textile common in East Africa. Traditional design consists of an ornamental frame, a central pattern, and a short sentence that conveys the fabric's message — called the name of the Kanga.
My project is a playful interpretation of this time-honored design, celebrating the power of women's friendships. The name Być tam gdzie sie nie jest (To be where one is not) comes from Olga Tokarczuk's book Dom dzienny, dom nocny (House of Day, House of Night).
