Holidays are a great opportunity to detach ourselves from what we may consider to define us at a social level, escaping are normal day-to-day life identity and its mundane constraints. The state of anonymity that tourists experience give them a temporary priviledged status, as they dissociate themselves from their parent community without the constraints to comply to the new set of rules and cultural customs of the society they are visiting.
Freed from the dress code and social etiquette that until now unawaringly defined them, tourists spontaneously and organicaly form a new reality, in which they become for a change the exotic ones. If until now they were the average normal citizens, a change of context makes them special and unique.
Protected by anonymity and facing a symbolical loss of status, they make unusual apparel and styling choices, matching colors and fabrics that would conventionally be considered as unfit or inadequate, under the false pretense of practicality.
