LAKEVIEW TOWNHOMES   SEATTLE   2007
SELECTED WORKS    2002-2011
The Lakeview Townhomes are located in the heart of downtown Seattle. The complex of three separate buildings comprised of five Townhome units is nestled into a difficult site at the base of Capital Hill over looking Lake Union, the Seattle Center, and Downtown Seattle. Like most of my work the Lakeview Townhomes strive to incorporate the needs of a modern and sustainable lifestyle. Utilizing a simple and 'organic' material pallet,  such as  Cedar siding, concrete floors, plywood and raw steel interior details and finishes, the Townhomes are an elegant example of a sustainable, minimal, urban aesthetic.
OTHELLO RESIDENCE  SEATTLE   2006

This was an extensive remodel of a 1948 two story, nondescript home. Located on the south west corner of a busy intersection the site offered views of the mountains to the west that the original home did not exploit. The additions to the original structure included a master bedroom and a quest room located on a new third story and a new living room and entry in a wedged-shaped wing along the east side of the property. The new wing also acted to buffer the home from the traffic noise while the third story addition gained sweeping views of the Olympic Mountains. Again, sustainability was a priority when contemplating the design and the material pallet. The materials chosen are either produced from rapidly renewable plants, like bamboo, or materials that are made from industrial byproducts such as MDF.
CITY VIEW II  SEATTLE  2006
The CVII residence is a very unique design. The home is comprised of three, distinct, uses; the 'public' living room wing, the 'semi-public' office wing, and the private bedroom level. An open courtyard 'breezeway' separates the public wing from the office wing and a third story, consisting of three bedrooms, 'caps' and connects the spaces together. The home is located in a semi-industrial neighborhood and the materials were chosen to reflect and embrace this situation. For example, the complex stair structure is made from 'No.2 or better' standard 'dimensional' lumber with a protective coating of wax.
