Premise
(Absent) Fleeting is a digital illustration capturing the true outlook of the Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey. It’s based on a reference photo I took at the airport in the cold, December of 2022.
(Absent) Fleeting is a digital illustration capturing the true routine of the Newark Liberty International Airport. The colors are desaturated and mundane, revealing the weariness of the place. The airport is usually bustling with people from all walks of life, except at this terminal. Here it’s illustrated that its quite empty, with only 3 subjects. But one of the subjects appears to be in black and white—leaving the world to continue turning as he disassociates from reality. This man acts as a self-insertion for the viewer as they can relate to his sense of longing and unfamiliarity. He craves belonging in a foreign place as he seems ‘lost’ the sign leftward indicates. But this feeling is only fleeting, and his mind absent.
