Artist-maker Joel Parkes
Recently, I had the privilege of meeting and photographing the London-based artist Joel Parkes. The brief was to capture not only the artist himself but also his creative process, the environment of his workspace, and the final pieces of his work.
The resulting photographs will serve various purposes, including social media, newsletters, and e-commerce photos for website use. The ultimate goal is to provide art enthusiasts with a captivating glimpse into Joel's unique artistry and inspire them to explore and invest in his distinctive artworks.
Joel's work, primarily in sculpture, utilizes materials such as marble, wood, and metals. It invites tactile exploration and leaves a lasting impression when removed from its original settings. His art engages not only with the objects themselves but also with the spaces in between, creating a dynamic harmony and alluding to a hidden structure beneath, much like the Earth's mantle supporting its surface. This prompts contemplation of the concealed forces beneath the landscape's stillness.
