Circle Sustainable Apparel: Building A Brand

The Beginning
Purpose
Circle is an apparel company that specializes in producing clothing using sustainable practices, in partnership with Fair Trade textile producers all over the world. In a world where fast fashion floods the market with low-quality clothing that never lasts and contributes the world wide textile waste, Circle takes a stance in producing affordable, high-quality clothing, that will withstand the test of time, employing sustainable and ethical business practices that values their employees and partnerships, and innovating the fashion industry through leading by example to keep the integrity between textile producers and customer by being transparent about where textiles are produced and how they are made.

Objective
The company is looking to have branding work done that reflects the essence of their business. The required components of this project were to design a unique logo that can applied to a variety of stationary products and swag, most notably a business card, letter head, envelope, and any additional components that would appeal to an eco-conscious audience.

Logo Design
Inspiration
The logo design incorporates as much symbolism as possible into a simplistic symbol. The triangle and circle join together in one continues line to represent the interconnection of life on earth.
The colour palette should reflect the feeling of the natural world. Green as the dominanat colour was considered the best choice to represent the brands commitment to being climate-conscious.
Stationary Design
The inspiration for the design was from nature. I ended up spending some time outside and forage for some interesting leaves that I thought would make for a cool pattern. I spent a lot of time sketching the leaves I collected, and even scanned a few of my favourite shapes to play with their designs in photoshop. Out of all the leaves I collected, the fern sample turned out to be the most interesting because of the beautiful texture it created when layered at different opacities. Its lack of predictable structure makes it feel like one is getting enveloped in a foliage of a lush green rainforest. Even using it as an inlay for the logo had a really cool effect.
