RUILDOK

‘Sharing is the new having’ (Dutch Trendrede 2014)

In today’s world, young people attach great value to experiences. More and more people want to experience the adventure of temporary living & working somewhere else. In addition there is an emerging trend for new collaborations and cooperative thoughts.

RUILDOK is a temporary village which puts these principles into practice. The key words for this meeting place are; sharing, exchanging and trust. Knowledge is shared through seats2meet, ateliers and swap- or repair areas; to create a hotbed for new initiatives.

RUILDOK is designed according to an organic structure, to promote the creativity. The walkways and piers full of green & parallel to the water, are the connecting factor.
The name RUILDOK is a combination of the words ‘ruil’ (Dutch verb tense of exchanging) and ‘dok’ (Dutch word for dock, which is used in every part of the harbour of Ghent; where this project is situated).
