DesignThinkers is Canada’s largest graphic design conference that inspires creativity and advances design thinking. Every year, a new platform is created that sets the direction for the conference.
For 2022, designers were asked to become disruptors. It was a call to be a rule-breaker with the goal of pushing designers to create more inspired work. The idea centred around one word — Defy — and a custom visual language that added a layer of meaning. Fifty unique graphic symbols were paired with Defy-isms that encouraged designers to break convention. Colours and typography were kept minimal intentionally. Red and black helped to create a bold look for a bold ask.
