Communication aid for special needs education
Inspired by the use of Makaton, a version of sign language for children with special educational needs. I worked with a local school to design a visual navigation system for use in a school like theirs. I designed a comprehensive set of coloured pictograms which will act as signage throughout the school. Routefinder aims to turn everyday tasks such as errands into an opportunity for independence and a sort of visual treasure hunt.

This was the main project of my Design For Visual Communication degree and it was entirely self-initiated. For more information on my research or design feel free to contact me.
