One of my favorite books to read when I was teaching preschool was "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle.  I wanted to honor that and create a version that children could remember the story hanging in their room. The story is about how the caterpillar spends the day (teaching children the clock faces/time as well) eating his way through a variety of fruits, leaves and other foods before he makes a chrysalis and then emerges as a beautiful butterfly.
