Hand-painted and hand-stencilled dress.
This dress was created as a final project for a garment design course in which students were required to design and construct a garment of their own choice.
The style of dress was chosen to practise creating the pattern and later constructing a fitted gown with a corset style bodice.
The patterns on the dress were derived from colourful roses and the human skeleton, which were then transferred to the dress through the use of stencils and hand-painting. The decision to hand paint and stencil the fabric was the result of suitable patterned fabrics not being readily available.
