The Challenge
The project originated when Altrenotti, Excellence Company for Beds, Mattresses, and Linens Made in Italy, felt the need to digitize its product catalog to assist its customers and retailers in the decision-making process. It became necessary to transform the fabrics, beds, and linens from the Soul Collection from 2D images into 3D models and textures that could be used for both traditional rendering and in the case of a real-time 3D configurator.
The Process
The process was divided into 3 steps:
Data Collection, from photographs, patterns, measurements, fabric samples;
Texturing, to achieve natural and non-repetitive fabrics;

3D Modeling of the products in both Single and Double versions.
Tiling the Textures
The photographs of the fabrics used for the tiling process all come from Altrenotti's internal databases, and there was no need to take new ones.
The use of dedicated software allowed for the removal of defects in the shots and the alignment of lights and shadows to make each fabric tileable.

3D Modeling
The modeling was primarily based on photographic sources and actual product measurements. Where possible, such as for the legs, real samples were used as references.
