A Case for Land-based Culture: Native Sheep Hub for Andre
This is a proposal to support establishing more endangered native sheep herds to protect against wildfires in rural Portugal. My strategy is to develop scientific and artistic institutions as a hub for experimentation and experiencing the lifecycle of wool to support re-introducing regenerative grazing practices. This hub would increase participation with the natural landscape and create knowledge and culture that continues from the local history of living with the land. The project functions to support future sheep managed firebreaks to protect residents from wildfires that are plaguing the present.
