The multifunctional centre is located at the entrance to the resort area along the coast of the Azov Sea. This is the intersection of five city streets connecting different parts of Mariupol. The construction of the first stage of the shopping centre in 2005 gave impetus to the development of the adjacent territory. The new building is connected to it into a single complex. Its construction made it possible to turn this territory into a full-fledged public centre, which includes trade enterprises, consumer services, public catering, a sports and fitness centre, office and club premises.

The facade of the complex resembles the design of a sailor’s vest. Grey opaque cladding stripes shape the building’s striking modern shape. Mirrored glazing reflects the environment and visually connects the new object with the existing environment during the day. In the evening, through the tape glazing, the active activity of the users of the complex is visible. Inclined, as if dancing, columns at the corner of the building are oriented towards the traffic intersection. The cantilevered volume with a large window is aimed at the central part of the city.

The object became a photo-scene for the Postponed dreams project for the «Time Space Existence» exhibition at the Venice Biennale 2018, in which our team took part. The exposition was dedicated to frozen and abandoned construction sites in the front-line territories in eastern Ukraine. The completion of the construction of the multifunctional centre instils optimism in our hearts and proves that even delayed dreams can come true.
