The brief demands the creation of a logotype for a Museum of Indian Musical Instruments, which is then extended into a font in 2 scripts ie- Devanagri and Latin. There is freedom to investigate different lettering styles while exploring the world of Indian classical music. 
 
The Font ‘Sur’ is a display face exten- sion to the logotype for the Museum of Indian Musical Instruments. The word ‘Sur’ means the ‘Note of a song’. Indian Classical Music has its parallel to ‘Do- Re- Mi-’ as ‘Sa- Re- Ga-’ The main inspiration of the typeface is ofcourse Indian Classical Music, specially the beautiful compositions on the sitar by Pt. Ravi Shankar, the typeface is also inspired by the calligraphy script styles in India and the way musical notations are written in Indian Classical Music, thus the distinctive diagnols in the characters.
