Mate is a made-up chess brand for my portfolio. I love chess (not enough to be good at it), so I envisioned the perfect chessboard and pieces for my taste. The timeless appeal of marble resonated with me. I believe modern chess sets can transcend just being a game, they can be artistic masterpieces; deserving of admiration and display. My ambition was to design a chess set that could sit in my home as proudly as a sculpture, capturing the essence of this perfect strategy-packed, social game.
