Dala Digital Home Safe 2021
I created this digital safe to experiment with various materials and production techniques. This product is constructed of two separate materials, each of which has a unique manufacturing method. The goal of this concept is to create a digital safe made of uncommon materials.
Materials
Borosilicate Glass
Red Oak
Concept development and 3D modelling was carried out in order to gain a thorough grasp of the needs by producing and visualising concepts and then comparing and contrasting these various ideas in order to fulfil the product's criteria and choose which concept would best meet them. Product development plans are essential for assuring value to potential consumers, as well as ensuring demand and that your final product are of the greatest possible quality before they are released to the market.
Borosilicate glass contains boron trioxide, which allows it to have a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, which means that it will not break when exposed to extreme temperature changes like normal glass . It is used in restaurants, laboratories and wineries. where
Red oak is an attractive wood that ranges from white to light brown. American red oak is a hard, heavy wood with moderate flexural strength and stiffness. Has a high crush resistance and is easy to steam bend.
The combination of these two materials is quite unique and has never been designed before; yet, combining both materials will result in a very effective and visually appealing digital safe.
Half of the safe was constructed of Borosilicate glass, while the other half was built of Red oak. Borosilicate glass is used for the outside body portions as it is
•Heat-resistant •Non-toxic •High chemical resistance •Water resistance •Corrosion resistance •Structural integrity •Affordable
When the interior body components are composed of Red Oak as it is
• Low cost • Easy to locate • Durable, long-lasting wood •Water resistant •Wear and tear resistant •Attractive •Good for liming

Posters
The whole cost of materials was studied using posters that compare the cost of each material since it is critical to evaluate the cost elements that go into each phase of manufacture. Analyzing each step and cost component allows one to identify not only target sales pricing and profitability, but also how much product re-design and other features cost. Also, identify project expense estimates and indicate how they may effect a certain timeline.
