Hawaiʻi International Film Festival Advert

I created this ad from concept to finish for my introductory advertising course. The entire course was centered around creating a brand identity and advertising on different platforms for our client, the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival (HIFF).

This is intended to be a full-page newspaper advertisement highlighting HIFF's educational services. It is the first in a hypothetical series of ads, which would feature a broad range of jobs in the film industry and a diverse group of kids, while maintaining cohesiveness through consistent type treatments and photographic composition. While the child and their future award-winning job would change, each ad would still feature the same framework of the school hallway, the trophy, and headline.

I created this concept, scouted the model, directed the photography, wrote the copy and put together the page layout for this advert.
If I could go back and change anything about this project, I'd experiment with bolder, hand-drawn text for the main headline. And if I was creating this advert today, it would feature updated social media logos.

The lotus logo is property of Halekulani, host and sponsor of the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival. The Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter logos are property of each company respectively. All were used for educational purposes only.
