Bermuda: Happiest Day

In one of the School of Motion Courses, Explainer Camp, I got the training to create a 30 seconds explainer video from start to finish. This is a super interesting and challenging journey for me to step into Mograph industry.
The Brief
Bermuda, a fictional company, is a pre-revenue startup aimed at building the “Uber of Boats” in the sharing economy age. Its mission is to enable boat-owners to make extra money while their boat sits unused, and to allow boat enthusiasts to cruise easily without the enormous costs of boat ownership. I was provided the brand design guidelines, the script and the raw professional voiceover file.
Researching, Making Mood boards
Mood boards help the client to visualize the animation product and facilitate further communication between the client and the designer. I made two mood boards to find the visual style that gives the high-end, fun and nautically-themed feelings.
Drawing Storyboards
This is the phase to design the framework of the whole storytelling and the shots for the animation.
Animatics
The animatic is an animated sample that brings the shots from storyboards and the voiceover together. It really helps to get a feeling about the pacing and examine the transitions between each shots. This is my favorite part before moving to the actual animating!
Style Frames / Design Boards
I designed graphic elements and crafted style frames in Adobe Illustrator, in order to show some of the visuals for final animation.
Then the animating and sound design phase came after the design boards were finished. I polished the visuals further in Adobe After Effects when animating. In the sound design part, I worked on the sound effects and the professional voiceover to create active audio-visual experience in the final animation.
