Recycling, glass, lamp, light, energy saving
In my diploma thesis I focused on the creation of collection of lamps manufactured by using recycled materials to the largest extent possible (lampshades, power supply, stands). Theoretical part contains analysis of recycling concept in general, including description of recycling process and it characteristics
in the present. Information collected from various statistics and resources led me to the conclusion
to use glass as a design material. It is material which produces about 6% of total waste. Original source
of inspiration was the idea to use an old glass cup which is encountered on a daily basis and which
is primary designated for preservation of fruits or vegetables.
Analyzing this material from technical point of view I incorporated also technology processes of glass production in my thesis. In choice of energy source to be used, analysis of actual electricity sources new technologies helped me to decide for concrete option. Practical part of the thesis deals with detailed definition of the selected technologies in redesigning of glass lampshades, characteristics of COB LED technology and overall processes of selecting single components of lighting devices. In the last part I present final design of individual lamps as well as coherency within the whole collection.
